The Illinois Petroleum Resources Board (IPRB) contributes $1,500 annually to fund the Illinois Science Teachers Association’s (ISTA) “Outstanding Science Student Medallion Program” that recognizes outstanding Illinois high school science students.
ISTA members can request a free Olympic Style Medallion and certificate for presentation to an outstanding science student. Additional medallions and certificates can be purchased at a cost of $15/each. Non-ISTA members pay $15 per student. These certificates and medallions are presented at various awards ceremonies throughout Illinois and can be ordered here.
The Medallions are attached to a red, white, and blue-ribbon lanyard and read ‘EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE’ on one side and have the ISTA logo on the other side. There is room for engraving a name, which must be done locally. A certificate is sent with the medallion for presentation to the student.
