On March 17 & 18, 2009, the
IPRB Exhibit trailer visited
Minooka High School in
Channahon, IL.  Over 600
9th grade students toured
In 2008, the Traveling Field Trip Exhibit made its stop in 44 Illinois counties
with approximately 24,916 students or individuals visiting the exhibit.  So far
the 2009 season looks to be a very busy year.  We have several schools or
special events booked for the spring months and we are currently booking for
the fall.

With the new exhibit, students will see new graphical learning stations which
students must "explore" to find energy information and new small scale
working models of oil and natural gas equipment commonly used during the
exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas in Illinois.  They also
learn about new technologies being used to find more oil and gas.  Students
also discover how crude oil and natural gas contributes to thousands of
products that affect their quality of life, and the numerous career opportunities
available in this industry.  At each school, students receive rulers, pencils, and
magnets proclaiming "Illinois Basin Oil is Cool!"

The IPRB delivers a uniquely qualified educational program that meets science
and social science learning standards established by the Illinois State Board of
Education.  IPRB’s
“Story of Petroleum” video and poster/brochure introduces
and explains the processes involved in oil exploration, drilling and refining.
Video footage was filmed on location in the Illinois Basin with scenes from a
geologist’s office, drilling rig, pumping unit, tank battery, refinery, and more.
